JESUS IS BORN!
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.” (Matthew 2:10)
JESUS DIED!
“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross.” (Hebrews 12:2)
JESUS IS RISEN!
“You seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead….” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy.” (Matthew 28:5-8)
JESUS ASCENDED!
“While He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.” (Luke 24:51,52)“Rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father.’” (John 14:28) “God … seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion.” (Ephesians 1:17-21)
JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
“For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?” (1 Thessalonians 2:19) “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout … and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17)
JESUS GIVES GREAT JOY!
Do you want to have this great joy? God’s Word promises eternal joy in heaven if you, as a guilty sinner, put your faith and trust in Jesus as your Savior. (Revelation 21:1-4; John 3:16) “In Your presence is fullness of joy.” (Psalm 16:11) He also promises joy in this life for the believer who follows Jesus, making Him Lord of his life. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11)
NO JOY WITHOUT JESUS!
If you do not have Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you cannot have true peace and joy, either in this life or in the life to come. When the Lord comes, you will be left behind and the door to heaven will be forever shut. (Matthew 25:10-13) Instead of great joy, you will experience “weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Luke 13:25-28) in hell “where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:43-48)
